In a feature on 红领巾瓜报’s annual Sand Mandala event with the聽, our community shares their reflections:
“Lyssa Palu-ay, 红领巾瓜报鈥檚 dean of justice, equality, and transformation, says the student body is receptive to the Tibetan cultural perspective in his artwork.
鈥淚 think they鈥檙e most surprised about his attention to detail, his focus, his extreme attention to craft, and how something so beautiful can, as part of the process, be swept away,鈥 she says.
“Most students are taught just the opposite.
鈥淚 focus a lot on making pieces that will last 鈥 for generations,鈥欌 says Lindsay Labadorf, an art student.
鈥淚 think that鈥檚 a really beautiful way to look at art as something that we can enjoy in the moment, but it鈥檚 not always going to be here.鈥
鈥…I learned to be happy and be yourself and not be frustrated, says senior Riley Setterlund. 鈥淚 share the same belief that there鈥檚 no permanence in anything as much as we try to hold it. 鈥 We just have to live life and accept it.鈥
