About the Auction

As ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨â€™s largest annual fundraiser, the Auction is integral to support for the next generation of artists, designers, and educators, ensuring they have access to the opportunities they need to thrive. Every bid has a direct impact on student scholarships and academic programs that fuel creativity, innovation, and the future of the arts. The 2025 ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨ Auction featured around 300 works of art in a range of media from emerging to established artists.

Important dates to remember and add to your calendar
General Call for Art submissions due: October 6, 2024
Student Call for Art submissions due: November 10, 2024
Notification of selection by: December 20, 2024
Live Auction event: March 29, 2025
Notification of artwork sale: June 2, 2025

Framing
Except for 3D and works on canvas, all works must be framed and ready for hanging. Please note that the cost of the frame should be included in the estimated value of your piece. ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨ will frame works by artists who have elected to contribute 100% of the sale proceeds to the College. If your work does not sell at Auction, you may be responsible for the cost of the framing. ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨ cannot guarantee that large artworks or special framing instructions can be accommodated. Frames will be decided at the discretion of ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨. 

Release of Image(s)
All artists participating in the ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨ Auction agree to grant the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and the Massachusetts College of Art and Design Foundation perpetual, royalty-free, and nonexclusive license to use, without limitation, any Auction artwork, project, or related image for the purposes of promoting the College and related events.

Artwork Permissions and Liability
It is the responsibility of the artist to receive all necessary permissions from any individuals and/or minors represented in his or her artwork. Failure to do so may result in work being excluded from the ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨ Auction.

Artwork Drop-Off, Delivery & Shipping
Participating artists will be notified about artwork drop-off and shipping information. It is the responsibility of the participating artist to get their piece to us by the date requested. Please note that all artwork should arrive in ready to hang condition.

To ensure the safety of all artwork, please deliver/ship artwork wrapped in light protective packaging material (bubble, plastic, or brown paper) and make sure that your name is clearly marked on the outside of the packaging. Please attach any special hanging instructions to the artwork. For security reasons, do not attach your W 9 Form to packaging, but deliver by mail, in person, mail, or follow the instructions given for digital delivery to the ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨ Auction office instead. 

Notification of Sale of Artwork:
All artists will be notified by email by June 2, 2025 about the sale of their artwork. Artists with sold artwork will receive email notification with the purchaser’s information, sale price of artwork, and consignment check, if applicable by June 30, 2025. Artists will also be notified by email of unsold artwork to arrange for pickup or return shipping. We are unable to answer sale price questions or other such inquiries prior to June 2, 2025 — please do not call. ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨ does not provide shipping or long term storage for unsold artwork. If unsold artwork is not claimed within three weeks of notification, unsold artwork will become property of the College, with potential to be sold at a later date with no benefit to the artist.
